The Captain

Jack Richards - Centre

Jack Richards has been selected as Moseley Oak RFC club captain for the 2012/13 season and leads the 1st XV from Outside Centre or Wing.

This is my third successive season as captain, which has seen a vast change in the club in a short space of time. We are moving in the direction we want to by regularly running two teams, with both 1st and 2nd XVs experiencing a good level of success so far this season. Having spent many years at Moseley, I have been able to experience the whole process, and have great confidence in the notion that Moseley Oak is a fantastic club for ex-Moseley colts, local adult players and also ex-professionals looking to join an ambitious side. Our Head Coach John White has again proved invaluable to us this season, using his knowledge and experience to get the best out of our players, in an effort for a second 1st XV promotion in three seasons.

For any potential new players interested in joining, the playing squad are a fantastic group which I believe have an extremely strong bond and team spirit. There is a core of players still present from our inception in 2008, which we have added to and strengthened year on year, enabling us to slowly improve. We have a very tight knit and welcoming squad, and I think it would be difficult to find a club with a better atmosphere.

However, we still have further serious aspirations for Moseley Oak. We would like to gain at least another 1st XV promotion and continue to be competitive at a higher level. We would also like to further strengthen our 2nd XV, and maybe even run a 3rd XV. With only a few more fixtures left to be played this year, we are more determined than ever to finish the 2012/13 season strongly.
