Moseley maintain winning run

Moseley Oak won their fourth match on the bounce on Saturday, defeating Veseyans 17-43.

Moseley started strongly with a turnover on halfway, and after good hands involving most of the backline, Jack Richards finished the move off with a strong run beating the last man to score. Two further tries then followed, firstly with Joey Baker powering over from close range, before Adam Billig scored a superb individual try from inside his own half.

Veseyans then began a prolonged siege on the Oak line, hammering away and looking certain to score on a number of occasions. Joey Baker was sin-binned for handling in the ruck, further increasing the strain on the away side. However, superb Moseley defence kept Veseyans out, and they could be forgiven for feeling unlucky not to have scored by half time.

Oak began the second half like they began the first, with Adam Billig splitting the defence and showing classy footwork to evade the fullback and score under the posts. Slick handling from Antonio Solomon then enabled Jack Richards to double his tally after a sprint down the left touchline to the corner.

Veseyans then mounted a comeback much as they did in the opening period, and scored two well-worked tries after decent pressure and good handling throughout the team. Ciaran Murphy replied for Moseley with a try near the posts after showing remarkable leg-drive in the contact, and Jon Perks added a seventh try after an offload out of the tackle from Duncan White.

Veseyans came back at Moseley again after breaking away from the back of a scrum in the Oak 22, scoring the final try of the match and leaving the score at 17-43.

Both sides played their part in a fast-paced and enjoyable game, leaving the watching crowd well entertained.
