Moseley Oak 27 – 7 Lutterworth

After a string of tough results, Moseley Oak turned the tables and ran out winners at Billesley Common. The game started in disappointing fashion for Moseley as an errant pass was intercepted by Lutterworth and they touched down under the posts.

The home side pushed this setback aside and began to increase their territory and possession. Strong forward drives gained ground and Harry Dawson completed an excellent period of play when he crashed over to score. Minutes later a line break from a scrum left Lutterworth short on the blind side, and Paul Cox exploited this by dummying and stepping inside to give Moseley the lead.

The purple patch continued when a Jack Richards break reached the Lutterworth 22, and after more phases Jack Fairhurst sliced through after an inside pass from Paul Cox. This gave Oak a 17-7 lead at half time.

Much of the second half was played in Moseley Oak territory, but strong defence from the home side kept Lutterworth at bay. Both teams received a yellow card after a scuffle but from the ensuing Oak penalty and lineout drive they were in touching distance of the line. Sam Sheppard turned and twisted to touch down which gave Moseley the four try bonus point, and this score effectively ended the game.

Lutterworth frustrations boiled over when Tom Peake was taken out late after putting a high ball up, which allowed Moseley back into the Lutterworth 22. After another short period of pressure, Gareth Jones converted a penalty to stretch the score to 27-7 and soon afterwards the game finished.
