Moseley Oak announcement
Moseley Oak Rugby Club is delighted to confirm the appointment of John White as their head coach for the 2010-11 season.

Moseley Oak, formerly Selly Oak RFC, moved to Billesley Common in 2004 with Moseley, and share all the facilities at the rapidly developing site. In 2008 the club was re-named Moseley Oak and continues to draw players from the South Birmingham area as well as the local universities.

The club play in the Midlands 3 League and provides an outlet to those who are moving up from Moseley’s outstanding youth system to play adult rugby as well as opportunities for those retiring from the professional game or electing to develop their career outside fulltime rugby.

The appointment is a return ‘home’ for White who joined Moseley as a Colt and went on to star in the 1st XV as a back row forward of great distinction. He remains one of an exclusive group of English players who can claim to have beaten New Zealand. He played in the Moseley dominated Midlands Counties West side that defeated the 7th All Blacks at Moseley’s former home - The Reddings -  in 1972.

His subsequent coaching career has established him as one of the leading exponents of the art.  He guided Birmingham &Solihull in their rise up the leagues as well as undertaking spells at Coventry and Stourbridge. He is a highly regarded figure in North Midlands rugby circles and had an outstanding period as head coach of Moseley both at The Reddings and also when the club was based at Birmingham University before the move to Billesley Common.

John, a Vice President of Moseley Rugby Club and former Club Chairman, now turns his attentions on the ‘Oak’ squad that has extensive talent.
He forms a partnership with former Moseley team mate and current Moseley Oak Chairman John Richards in a clear sign that Oak intend to ensure that the rich talent that is developed by the excellent grounding within the Moseley youth system fulfils its ability.

A welcome return to Billesley is also extended to his wife Sue who has also been a Moseley servant not least in terms of running the excellent Reddings catering along with Jean Nutt (wife of immediate past President Derek Nutt) for many years whilst the club also expects to see more of his son Duncan who has also been a Moseley player of note.
